With Love

With love,

The rustling silk
The drape of a saree
The little traditions
The beauty of bygones

Shanti Banaras is a celebration of traditions, memories, and the eternal love for sarees. Our latest campaign serves as a loom for these stories, weaving love across generations. The visuals explore the creative possibilities of handcrafted photographs made with meticulous planning, patience, and precision. A process where a stream of colour gives way to the nuances of greys with fine detail. The process is rare; no two images are the same. It’s truly one-of-a-kind — much like the craftsmanship of our silk ensembles.

The result? A magical mix of nostalgia and gaiety. Stay tuned for With Love,

“Each handcrafted photograph from the campaign, much like the sarees, captures the space of time on an 8x10 inches sheet of paper. It all comes alive with the flow of chemicals — and the magic of colour,” says Sarang Sena, who describes himself as a visual artist. The process used by Sarang is second to none, so no two images are alike. “I am making the photograph directly on the silver halide-coated paper in the camera, as opposed to C-type prints (colour prints) made from colour film negatives, transparency, or even digital photographs. Once you have the first good calibrated print, you can make innumerable prints. And, they will all look the same,” he adds. The result of this time-taking precision-based process? A visual story that’s one-of-a-kind.
